MoSP developed the “womb to tomb” model for Guyana through it human, financial, and technical resources and community programmes and services. Our mission is to nurture a resilient and caring society that can overcome challenges together. Previously known as the Ministry of Labour, Human Resources and Social Security, the Ministry was officially renamed and restructured in 2015.
The Ministry of Social Protection is committed to the sustainable development and rehabilitation of children, women, families, the elderly and providing training and social and welfare services/programmes to persons in difficult circumstances and disadvantaged persons.
To provide psychological, social, financial and other material assistance as well as regulatory services for senior citizens, the infirm, the indigent and destitute to improve their status and implement their abilities to cope with the stress of living.
